About Glycerol Monostearate (GMS)
With a molecular weight of 358.57 g/mol and the chemical formula C21H42O4, Glycerol Monostearate (GMS) finds extensive use in industrial settings. It has a one-year shelf life and a melting point between 55 and 60oC. GMS improves the texture and functionality of materials and is a necessary component of plastic lubricants. In a variety of manufacturing processes, it lowers friction, increases smoothness, and offers lubrication. It is used in a variety of industries, including food, medicine, polymers, and cosmetics. Industrial-grade GMS increases processing efficiency, has a waxy texture, and has no smell. To maximise product quality and longevity, the formulation uses specialised equipment for mixing and emulsification.
Applications :
- Acts as mould release agent & shining agent in PVC (Rigid and Flexible), EVA and other polymer processing.
- Acts as an anti-static agent in masterbatches.
- In cosmetics, it is used as emulsifier, opacifier and emollient in cleansing creams, moisturising and sunscreen creams, lotion and fairness creams.
- Used as as softener in textiles.
